An end to loneliness is in sight…

News for 2016

A new-look scheme has been unveiled, taking on board comments from the planners, who wanted to see a design that was more sympathetic to the existing mansion. This has allowed us to put in more landscaped gardens, a larger spa and leisure facility and has resulted in an overall look that we think will rival any Retirement Village in the country.

It’s not just the appearance, but a remodelling of the layout based on the latest research in this sector has created a building that will provide the very best living for people who have more time on their hands, yet at prices that are surprisingly affordable.

Based on the highly successful Brunswick Gardens retirement village in Woodhouse, there are 57 apartments, a mix of 1- and 2-bedroom, of various sizes from studio to penthouse, for an independent lifestyle. A range of facilities will be for the benefit of residents with some available for the local community too. Clubhouse, meeting places, activities and a health club complete with gym, sauna, steam room and spa pools, plus food-growing and exercise classes (not compulsory!) offer a new social life on-site.

Healthy living, not just physically but mentally, socially and nutritionally too, as much or as little as you want.

From overwhelming support at the public open day in May 2013, the reservation list has grown, but there will still be plenty of opportunities to own, part-own or rent an apartment once the booking list opens. Construction was planned to begin this summer, but the project has been put on hold by the City Council while they consider an alternative scheme from a ‘social entrepreneur’. We firmly believe that providing a new way of life for over 80 people, “putting the elderly at the heart of the community”, upgrading the site and bringing additional trade and shared leisure facilities to Sharrow should be the priority for the city. You can help – contact your local Councillor, and tell them you want the Retirement Village scheme to go ahead without delay! The more people who do that, the quicker we should be able to start on site. Thank you for your time.
